At a distance of one and two nautical miles from the coast, there is an extensive coral reef considered the second most important in the world and the largest in the Western Hemisphere. It is an extraordinary attraction for underwater activities and water sports.
Morón City
Due to its proximity to the Cayo, it allows visitors to have short trips to this city. Its urban symbol is the sculpture of a rooster, bird inspiring joys and hopes. Morón also treasures archaeological heritage of great significance, which are exhibited in its museums.
Ciego de Ávila City
It is a modern city with features of colonial architecture in its historic center. Near Independence Avenue, the center of its active life, important sociocultural facilities converge, such as the Teatro Principal, the José Martí Park and the Church of San Eugenio de la Palma, patron saint of the city. It conserves vestiges of one of the most important historical monuments of the country, “The Trocha from Júcaro to Morón”.
La Redonda Lagoon
It has beautiful natural channels, flanked by dense vegetation. In this lagoon, it is the International Trout Fishing Center, because it is considered among the largest reservoirs of this species on the Island.
Sea beds
The sea beds of this region have been cataloged between the most surprising by the wealth of their fauna, the fabulous marine structures and the splendid light that penetrates in unusual depths. These dive places are characterized by depths between 5 and 40 meters and these are a real attraction for visitors from Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo.
